World Mission University held its 34th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, June 7, at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony, moderated by Vice President Yoonjung Choi, included a prayer by Vice President Sunmook Shin, announcements, the academic report, the conferral of degrees, an address by President Sungjin Im, a special song by student Sohyun Song, congratulatory remarks by Netz Gomez, a response from the graduates, a prayer of dedication by student Daniel Choi, the singing of the school anthem, and a benediction by SOMA President Kwanggil Lee.
In his address, President Sungjin Im remarked:
“Today is a very joyful day. We give thanks to God for granting us this meaningful occasion. Students of World Mission University come from around the globe—representing many nations and several states across the United States. Today, we are joined by families and friends from India, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Canada, Korea, and more. Among our graduates are those who have endured the loss of family members during their studies, and others whose academic journeys took longer because of their deep commitment to mission work. In particular, we are grateful for the generous support over the past two years that enabled four students from Africa to graduate this year.”
He continued:
“Graduation marks not only an ending but also a new beginning—a day of being sent out into the world. I encourage you to serve with a heart of love. Through faith in Jesus, we have been given freedom to do all things. Yet, as the Apostle Paul reminds us, this freedom must be used to benefit others. True service is serving in love. Just as Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, we too must be willing to wash the feet of others. Ministry without love has no meaning.”
“Love is not merely a method or a skill—it is a posture of the heart. Serve with love.”
This year, degrees were conferred upon a total of 107 graduates: 32 Bachelor’s, 65 Master’s (24 MACP, 6 MAGL, 9 MAM, 13 MAT, 6 MAWS, 7 MDiv), and 10 Doctoral degrees (DMin: Yumi Kang, Eungon Park, Jungmin Byun, Sontae Ahn, Kwangchun Lee, Seungsoo Lee, Suk Han; DMin-CH: Deokhwa Lee, Yongmin Cho; DMA: Wiyoung Oh).
