Purpose and Goals
The DMin in Counseling with Spiritual Formation program is a 34-unit degree program that prepares students for scholarly research and effective ministerial skills on Counseling with Spiritual Formation. This program will provide in-depth training in research on integration of theology and psychology as well as in actual counseling techniques and spiritual formation practices
Program Learning Outcomes
In accordance with World Mission University’s central objectives, the program seeks to enable students to:
- Engage their ministerial context with theological acumen and critical thinking by the integration of theology and psychology,
- Articulate and respond to crucial ministry issues in diverse personal and cultural contexts,
- Enhance and practice Counseling with Spiritual Formation at advanced levels as Christian leaders in order to contribute to positive transformation of the world,
- Demonstrate dedication to personal and spiritual maturity. Students will engage in research and writing, and produce a dissertation

Pre-Requisite Courses
To all applicants, at least 12 credits of pre-requisites (6 credits of counseling or coaching courses and 6 credits of theological courses) are required. If the applicant has completed pre-requisites in their master’s degree program, these can be waived.

Admission requirements

- The application form and a non-refundable application fee;
- Testimony (included in application);
- Two references;
- Statement of purpose
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions attended;
- Photo (taken within 6 months) (uploaded to the application)
- An earned MA degree or the equivalent with at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited institution.
Graduation Requirements
Successfully complete and pass each of the 7 courses with an average grade of a B. Students are allowed only two B- grades. When a student earns a third B- in a course, he/she will be dismissed from the school. Students must complete a Professional Dissertation Project, its successful oral defense, and receive a pass grade.
Dissertation project
All students receive foundational training for writing research projects through the DC700 Research Methodology course. After completing all coursework, students select a dissertation topic, consult with their advisor, and submit a proposal for approval. They then work on their dissertation under their advisor’s guidance. Upon completion, students must pass an oral defense for their dissertation to obtain their degree. The dissertation project typically ranges from 100 to 200 pages.
Integrated Master’s with Doctoral Degree Program
Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply. During the first three semesters, students take master’s courses; from the fourth, they mix master’s and doctoral courses.
