[Announcement] The 37th Student Government Association (SGA) Presidential Election (2026-2027)

We hereby announce the election for the 37th President of the Student Government Association. We are waiting for a precious leader who will lead the SGA for one year and strive to enhance student rights and interests. If you are interested, please refer to the attached details and send an email to the Election Commission (sbpec@wmu.edu), and the members will provide guidance. We ask for the interest of many students.

Official Notice of the 37th SGA Presidential Election

The following details regarding the election for the 37th President of the Student Government Association are hereby announced:

 1. Term of Office 

• 2026 Summer Semester (July 1st) – 2027 Spring Semester (June 30th).

2. Candidate Eligibility (In accordance with Chapter 6, Article 17 of the SGA Constitution) 

1) Candidates for President must be Full-Time students.
2) Candidates for President must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher from the previous semester.
3) Undergraduate candidates must be those who have registered for 4 semesters and earned a minimum of 48 credits at this university.
4) Graduate (Master’s, Doctoral) candidates must be those who have registered for 2 semesters and earned a minimum of 16 credits at this university.
5) Candidates for President must obtain signatures from 2 recommenders (enrolled students).
6) Recommenders shall recommend only one candidate.

3. Required Documents

• Candidacy Application Form for President, and email verification/supporting data from recommenders.

4. Submission

5. Candidate Recommendation and Registration Period

• March 17, 2026 (Tue) – April 10, 2026 (Fri).

6. Campaign Period

• April 10, 2026 (Fri) – April 17, 2026 (Fri).

7. Candidate Policy Speech

• April 17, 2026 (Fri) at 7:00 PM (via Zoom).

8. Voting and General Assembly

• Voting: April 21, 2026 (Tue), 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (via Google Form).
• General Assembly: April 21, 2026 (Tue) at 7:30 PM.
