  Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (B.A.)


World Mission University offers a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies based on 126 semester hours of credit. The program requires four academic years, includes general education courses, and is designed to equip students for effective communication of the Gospel. The goal of the program is to help students attain a fundamental grounding in Biblical Studies, including an introduction to the theory and practice of ministry, Church History, missiology, the Old and New Testaments, and theology. The program allows students to master enabling skills for autonomous learning and to develop a deep understanding in a specific area of knowledge. The elective segment provides the opportunity for students to choose diverse exposure to other areas of interest.

The goals of the Biblical Studies program are for students be equipped to:

Enter into M.Div. programs that are required for becoming pastors
Become assistant ministers (JDSN)
Become lay leaders in their churches (i.e. elders, deacons,
  Sunday School teachers, home Bible study leaders, lay counselors, volunteer youth ministers, etc.)
Develop advanced competencies in a specialized area


General Education

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies requires a minimum of 45 course hours be earned in General Education. General Education courses include courses in communication, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.


Graduation Requirements

The Bachelors degree program in Biblical Studies requires the completion of a minimum of 126 semester hours of credit, a passing grade on a senior thesis, passing a comprehensive examination, and demonstration of Christian Character. Hours can be a combination of transfer credits and completion of course work with a Grade Point Average of C (2.0). At least 45 credits must be in General Education. As much as 2/3 percent of the 126 semester hours (or 84 semester hours) may be satisfied through transfer credit. A minimum of 1/3 percent of the credits must be completed at World Mission University.

In addition to the course work, to graduate, the student must demonstrate competence in at least seven of ten ministry skills listed on the Ministry Skills Assessment Form (see Student Ministry Handbook) and examined on his/her knowledge of the Bible by a written examination. To pass, a student must correctly answer a minimum of 100 out of 150 questions (75 from the Old Testament and 75 from the New Testament). The student will secure the request form to take the examination and the request shall be submitted 10 days prior to the date of the examination. The examination shall be taken at any regularly scheduled testing period. The student will be allowed to retake the examination as needed.

The student may submit a senior thesis (a major academic paper) earning 3 credits to complete the program. In this case, the student should take the course, LA 366 Thesis, with an outline of the thesis during his/her final year of the program. The school will assign an academic supervisor according to the subject of the thesis as an elective. The length of the senior thesis will be approximately 30 pages double-spaced.
